Department Chair's Message

The Department of Group Work plays an active role in achieving the mission and vision of the university, as well as its strategic plan derived from Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The department comprises a distinguished group of specialists who spare no effort in harnessing their scientific knowledge and fulfilling their teaching duties at the level of the department, faculty, and university. They also actively participate in the teaching process in faculties and institutes specializing in social work, in fulfillment of their responsibilities towards achieving community partnership with universities and institutes across the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Arab world.
They offer their research expertise in conducting specialized studies in group work in alignment with international publishing standards, and they guide their students through the supervisory process to produce solid and diverse research within the field of specialization that meets the needs of the local community and contributes to solving many societal problems through professional intervention programs specialized in group work.
Members of the department actively contribute by providing specialized consultations to various groups in diverse areas of professional practice that rely on the group as a tool for modifying and regulating human behavior. They also take part in delivering numerous programs and training courses to community institutions, out of their belief in the importance of their role in community service.
At the postgraduate level, the department grants both Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Group Work specialization, and also offers specialized diplomas in accordance with community needs.
The department receives unlimited support from university and faculty leadership in response to the directives of the wise political leadership that has given great attention to university education. This support serves to motivate and inspire the department members to continue their distinguished academic, research, and community contributions.
Members of the department participate in all quality assurance activities at the level of the department, faculty, and university, whether through adherence to quality standards or through their diverse responsibilities required by the quality assurance system, including conducting external reviews for peer faculties and institutes.
The department seeks to introduce new programs and curricula in a continuous effort to meet the evolving needs of the labor market, in alignment with quality and academic accreditation standards.
The department is committed to being present and faithfully fulfilling its responsibilities in all activities and tasks expected of all those engaged in university education.
Department members are also distinguished by unique characteristics that have enabled many of them to assume leadership roles at the faculty and university levels.

The Department of Group Work at the Faculty of Social Work, Helwan University, seeks to contribute to the preparation of a distinguished social worker capable of competing in the labor market both locally and globally. This is achieved through an educational and research environment provided in accordance with quality standards and adopting modern trends in education, practice, and community service, in connection with developments in digital transformation.
Department Mission

The Department of Group Work at the Faculty of Social Work, Helwan University, seeks to contribute to the preparation of a distinguished social worker capable of competing in the labor market both locally and globally. This is achieved through an educational and research environment provided in accordance with quality standards and adopting modern trends in education, practice, and community service, in connection with developments in digital transformation.
Department Objectives

The Department of Group Work seeks to achieve three main goals:
First Goal: Developing education and training in line with developments in digital transformation.
This goal can be achieved through the following mechanisms:
- Developing curricula and teaching methods for group work courses in line with emerging developments.
- Continuous updating of scientific content according to the needs of the local and global labor market.
- Building the capacities of faculty members and their assistants in the use of technology in education and training.
- Supporting the active participation of students in interactive educational and training activities.
Second Goal: Supporting scientific research in the field of group work.
This goal can be achieved through the following mechanisms:
- Adopting a research plan in group work linked to contemporary social and digital transformations.
- Encouraging scientific research related to group issues within Egyptian and Arab societies.
- Encouraging department members to publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals locally and internationally.
- Promoting interdisciplinary research collaboration with other specializations in ways that serve scientific issues in the field of group work.
- Giving priority to applied research concerned with professional intervention programs in group work that address societal issues.
Third Goal: Enhancing the role of the Department of Group Work in addressing societal issues.
This goal can be achieved through the following mechanisms:
- Building partnerships with civil society organizations that work with groups.
- Adopting training and research projects that serve the needs of social groups in the community.
- Providing technical consultations to social institutions, especially those concerned with group work.
- Organizing scientific forums to discuss issues in the specialization and link them to community problems and needs, serving as a means of strengthening cooperation among academic departments specializing in group work, fostering the advancement and development of the field, and keeping researchers and stakeholders informed of the latest developments in the specialization.
